The brief

Breakout was one of our very first clients at Walker Thomason. As a fast-emerging concept in the attractions industry, they approached us to help establish their online presence with a new website—one that not only introduced guests to the escape room experience but also allowed for seamless, efficient online bookings.

As we began researching third-party booking platforms to integrate into their site, we quickly discovered a gap in the market. There simply wasn’t a solution that met the specific needs of our client—or the wider escape room and attractions industry.

From that insight, Resova was born. We set out to build the most robust, affordable venue management software for family entertainment centres and multi-attraction venues worldwide. A platform designed to enhance the guest journey, increase conversions, and streamline operations for operators everywhere.

The solution

Before we could build the leading online booking software for family entertainment centres and multi-attraction venues, our product team had to first do some discovery into the industry to deeply understand the needs of both primary user groups: venue operators and their guests.

With discovery and the MVP (minimum viable product) defined, our product team developed early prototypes—starting with a seamless guest checkout and a secure, robust back-office system for operators to manage bookings, marketing, and staff. Throughout the prototyping phase, our design approach was mobile-first—ensuring that both guests and operators could access and manage bookings effortlessly from any device.

With strategy and design complete, our engineering team began building both the guest checkout and operator back-office applications using the latest web and mobile technologies. We ensured the platform was globally scalable, performance-optimised to handle high traffic, and built with robust security to safeguard customer and guest data.

The result

We launched Resova alongside the opening of Breakout Escape Room, seamlessly integrating it into their website and processing hundreds of guest bookings within the first few weeks. The platform quickly gained traction—not just within the escape room industry, but across a wide range of attraction-based businesses worldwide. Over time, Resova was adopted by more than 1,000 venues globally, facilitating billions of dollars in online bookings and payments. This success led to Resova’s acquisition by Clubspeed, the world’s leading venue management software provider for family entertainment centres.
