Who we are

This website is run by Walker Thomason, a digital agency based at 23 Kendal Avenue, Urmston, Manchester, England, M41 8SH. We are the data controller for the personal information described here. If you have a question about this policy or your information, email us at hello@walkerthomason.com.

When you contact us

If you fill in the form on our contact page, we collect your name, your email address and your message, plus your phone number, company and a subject line if you choose to give them.

We use these details to reply to you and, if we end up working together, to manage that work. We keep a record of your enquiry in our own customer records so that we can see what was said and follow it up. Alongside it we note how you found the site that day: the page you arrived on, the website that referred you and any campaign tag in the link you followed.

When you send the form, we also email you a copy of your enquiry so you know it arrived. We will not add you to a mailing list or send you marketing.

We rely on our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, and, where you are asking about a project, on taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.

If you email us directly instead, we keep the email and our reply for the same reasons.

When you browse the site

We count visits to this website ourselves, on our own server, so that we can see which pages are read and where visitors come from. For each page viewed we record the page, the time, the website that linked to it, any campaign tag in the link and whether the visit was on a phone, tablet or computer. We also record when someone clicks one of our email addresses or phone numbers.

This does not use a cookie and does not store your IP address. To tell one visit from another within a day, we combine your IP address and browser details into a one-way code that cannot be turned back into either, and that code changes every day, so it cannot follow you from one day to the next. We rely on our legitimate interest in understanding how the website is used.

We also use two third-party tools that set cookies:

  • Google Analytics, provided by Google, which measures how visitors use the site.
  • Mouseflow, provided by Mouseflow ApS in Denmark, which records how pages are used (mouse movements, clicks, scrolling and the pages viewed) so we can see where a page is confusing or hard to use.

Both are described in our cookie policy, along with how to turn them off.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with the services that help us run the website and our business:

  • the servers that host this website and its database;
  • Resend, which delivers the emails our contact form sends;
  • Google and Mouseflow, as described above.

Some of these providers process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, they protect it with safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

We may also share information where the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries, and any emails that follow, for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and any work that comes from it, and then delete them. Our own visit records do not identify you and are kept so we can compare how the site performs over time. Google Analytics and Mouseflow keep data for the periods set out in their own policies.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us:

  • for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • to correct it if it is wrong;
  • to delete it;
  • to restrict how we use it, or to stop using it, where we rely on legitimate interests.

To make a request, email hello@walkerthomason.com. We will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top of it.
